Background
Hospital acquired infections through the use of intravenous lines is a leading concern for health care professionals. There are many best practices relating to the correct maintenance of peripheral, midline and CVC IV lines and the prevention of infection.
Key Driver
3M, BD and Leeds Teaching Hospitals jointly commisioned an e-learning package to train medical staff in IV linecare.
Dynamic created an interactive training program called ' i-care' which covered care for Peripheral, Mid and CVC lines, all the time referencing National and local Infection Control procedures. The course content was created by specialist nurses, peer-reviewed by IV therapy key opinion leaders and reviewed by infection control teams and IV nurses.
The course was then delivered on CD to 3M and BD and uploaded to the Leeds Teaching Hospitals learning management system where learners progress is tracked using SCORM.
