Microsoft XP Conversion
Background
The Medical Protection Society took a decision to convert all desktops from NT and Office 97 to Windows XP Pro and Office XP. This affected 260 existing users across the two sites, Leeds and London.
Key Driver
It became clear that during the migration project, there would arise an opportunity for the Medical Protection Society to improve best practice and improve methods of working.
The user base had a varying pre-requisite skill level and a comprehensive training solution was required to ensure that all staff were given the relevant IT skills to assist them with the conversion from Windows NT to Windows XP and Office XP. It was also required to ensure staff newly recruited to the business had access to appropriate training materials and to ensure that existing staff could improve their effectiveness in relation to the use of IT systems in line with business developments and the new functionality available.
The Medical Protection Society commissioned Dynamic Business Services to produce interactive, online modules to demonstrate the new features of Windows, Word and Outlook XP and to include additional tutorial for existing functionality in Word and Outlook. Best practice was heavily emphasised in the materials.
Benefits
- Training delivered to 260 users quickly and efficiently.
- Costs greatly reduced from classroom based training.
- Training materials are a permanent online feature and can be used as reference material for users wishing to refresh.
